"If you serve only to earn a salary, you will never do your best as long as you think you’re underpaid. If you minister to get recognition, you will start doing less when people don’t show their appreciation. The only motivation that will take you through the storms and keep you on the job is, ‘I’m serving Jesus Christ.'"
My blog primarily for the family and friends of Grace Baptist Church in Cedarville, Ohio, but open to all (this is the internet, after all). I follow up on sermons, add notes of interest to the church, and reflect on matters great and small.

Happy birthday, Warren Wiersbe!
Long before we had John Piper, we had Warren Wiersbe, faithfully teaching the Word, writing his "Be..." commentaries, and offering pithy gems of wisdom. Today is his 83rd birthday. Thank you, Dr. Wiersbe for teaching faithfully over the years (I still love his sermon on John 15). Here is one of many quotes of his for your edification:

I saw last saw him when he was a speaker at Moody. He could have eaten his meals in a private dining room for speakers, or could have made appointments to dine out with friends and ministry partners. Instead, he stood int he cafeteria line with 1000 other pastors. He sat at a table, unnoticed by most. He squeezed his salad dressing from a packet onto his bowl of lettuce greens just like all of the other men who are faithfully serving in local churches (large and small) around the country. He is one of my heroes because he emulates the value... "It's not about me."
